Winter may be an unusual season to change up your hair colour, but we’re here to let you know that winter hair colours are totally a thing and we’re going to prove it with some of our favourite shades of cool that will chase your winter blues away.
Coffee, no milk browns
Channel your inner Kendall Jenner with a shiny dark brown that will reflect the light. We fell in love with the way this hair colour complimented the bright hair pearls and grey clothes featured by Chanel at Paris fashion week earlier this year. Dark chocolates and ashy shades are our top picks for this chilly season.
For more texture and dimension in your colour, a subtle chocolate ombre is a great alternative. Priyanka Chopra demonstrates this look perfectly with dark roots fading into a lighter, warmer shade.
Bring out your inner ice king/queen with hair almost so white that it could blend in with the snow. This daring cool toned colour – like grey – is no longer reserved for old age and looks gorgeous on so many people! If you’re worried about your white/grey hairs, don’t be! Flaunt it like you’re Christina Aguilera or Gwen Steffani. Be wary of the upkeep though, it is one of the most difficult looks to create and it requires a lot of maintenance to keep it in check.
If you want a toned down version of this icy shade, an ash blonde colour with lighter or grey ends or baby lights is another great wintery look we love for the season.
Red is a festive hit for this season. It’s a great colour to experiment with because it comes in a variety of shades so you are more than likely to find a shade that suits your skin tone. We especially love the way reds glowingly stands out in the dull winter weather (think Sansa Stark of Winterfell). If you want to lean closer to the dark side, cherry black is a sultry colour that will turn heads. On the other hand, if you want something more natural looking, a deep orange-brown is a lovely nod to those autumn leaves – Karen Gillan is a great example.
Le chat noir
We’ve been seeing the likes of Rihanna and Diane Guerrero sporting a soft, natural black colour and we are all for it. Black hair has the potential to be a mass of glossy goodness when it is well looked after, and it looks gorgeous when straightened and smoothed out!
