2017 has been an amazing year for new haircuts, new hair colours and new hairstyles. Now that we are at the end of the year, we thought it would be fun for us to look back and share our top ten blogger hair transformations of the year.
Laura from KittyCowell
In October, Laura wrote an encouraging post about self-love and embracing yourself unapologetically. We cannot express just how strong the positive vibes in this post were but it definitely made us feel like we could accomplish anything by the end of it! Laura also featured her new hair colour and ‘do which is lilac-pink bob that makes her look like a pastel princess.
Lesley from Fresh Lengths
Speaking of self-love, we absolutely loved reading Lesley’s post in June which marked a year since she decided to wear her hair 100% natural. We were instantly blown away by her big, beautiful, natural curls and how healthy it looks! Most importantly, we were so pleased to read that she feels happier and more confident embracing her natural curls which she should because she rocks those coils so well!
Emma from The Life Edit
Emma is no stranger when it comes to experimental hair colours, but in March she decided to let go of her mermaid turquoise hair and go for a surprise new hair colour and cut style. The results were, to say the least, fabulously fiery. Her hairdresser used a ‘copper and coral’ combination of hair dyes which created a quirky chestnut result. Depth and texture were created with the help of a blunt cut and texturising layers. We are big fans.
Ting from The Ting Thing
One of the biggest hair transformations we saw this year was in June when Ting went from virgin dark brown to a whimsical lavender! Her hairdresser did such a great job and we are in awe of the amazing results. It’s not easy to go from dark to light! Her hairdresser made sure to create as light a base as possible so that she could experiment with more colours in the future. Speaking of which, she actually recently changed up her look for a stunning fuchsia pink hair.
Georgina from She Might Be Loved
May 2017 introduced a reborn Georgina who wanted the perfect shade of red, and her fairy godfather made it happen with patience and gradually lightening the shade of red until Georgina felt comfortable and happy with the result. Her hairdresser brought her hair back to life with a shiny new bright red hair colour and cut. Her new hair was unrecognisable from her before photo, it was as if her hair was never touched by damage! We also love the very strong Jessica Rabbit vibes we’re getting from her transformation.
Kristabel from I Want You To Know
Kristabel is always experimenting with different styles, colours and cuts, but our favourite so far has to be when she got her hair cornrowed and box-braided for her 30th birthday celebration. In Kristabel’s blog post she discusses her nervousness prior to her birthday and how she overcame it with a few encouraging tips which must have worked because she looked like a glowing goddess! The gold braid clips were such a lovely touch to her braids.
India from Love India Moon
We saw another great hair transformation in August with India who went from long blonde hair to a short haircut which was balyaged with a lovely ashy silver colour. India mentions that this look was something she had been thinking about for about a year because it would be a drastic change for her and it would be a hair bleaching first for her. The results were definitely worth it because her hair looks so badass! It is one of our favourite silver hair transformations of this year.
Lottie from Oyster and Pearl
Lottie turned 40 earlier this year and in her blog post she talked about the anxieties she felt for the new milestone in her life. However, it all turns around after a trip to her hairdresser to get a simple and understated fringe. While she acknowledges that it’s ‘only a fringe’, it made such a difference in the way she felt about herself and the clothes she wore, and we are so happy for her. It’s amazing how your hair can instantly lift your spirits!
Ambarina from Beauty Passionista
We’ve all had that feeling of being bored of your hair and wanting a change. Ambarina was tired of walking out of the salon with barely changed hair, she wanted something more exciting that would change up her look enough to see that there was a visible change. This time she came out of the salon with a heartwarming honey balayage. Her hairdresser also gave her a very complimenting cut which involved face-framing layers and added volume with the use of a blunt cut. Ambarina’s hairdresser did such a great job and we just love how beautiful the colours look against her skin and the volume and texture that she now had!
Amy from The Little Magpie
Also in June, we saw Amy sporting her new hair colour transformation which was in collaboration with Nice n’ Easy’s #GoingNude campaign. We love how her hairdresser used a series of natural shades to create something so beautifully rich in colour. The results were marvellous. Alexa Chung would indeed be proud!
